Sparks flew for Rasyidah and Fadhli on their prom night and eight years on, their sweet love story culminated in a union that they both speak fondly of.
Rasyidah, 26, first saw Fadhli, 26, in school but was too shy to approach him, until she was nominated Prom Queen and finally caught his eye! That night, Fadhli made the first move and they exchanged social media handles. They were married at Sofitel Singapore City Centre on 12 October 2024, with flowers playing a big role in their wedding decor.
How did the two of you meet?
Rasyidah: We first met 8 years ago. Fadhli and I went to the same school, but it wasn’t until our school prom—where I was nominated as prom queen—that he finally noticed me! It’s funny because I had always noticed him before, stealing glances in the hallways or during classes, but I never got the chance to actually talk to him. Who would’ve thought that one unforgettable night would mark the beginning of something so special? That evening, he mustered up the courage to talk to me, and we ended up exchanging social media handles—it was the start of everything.

What drew you to each other?
Fadhli: Honestly, Rasyidah has this crazy way of lighting up any room she walks into. When she talks, I swear time just stops—it’s like I could sit and listen to her for hours and never get tired. She’s so bubbly and full of life, and yet there’s this softness about her that just pulls me in. We just get each other in this weird, perfect way—our jokes, our energy—it’s like we were made for each other. I didn’t even stand a chance. She’s my favourite person, my everything.
Rasyidah: Fadhli is hands down the funniest, most genuine person I’ve ever known. He makes me laugh until my cheeks hurt, but it’s not just about being funny—he’s so warm, so thoughtful, and he cares in a way that just feels different. He’s gentle in the way he loves, and it’s the kind of love that feels like home. I’ve always noticed him, but getting to know him made me realise how special he really is. I couldn’t imagine my life without him now—he’s my happiness in human form.

What is it about your partner that you love the most?
Fadhli: Rasyidah is pure sunshine in human form—she’s so full of life and energy, and she pours that same motivation into everything she does. What I adore most is how endlessly supportive she is. No matter how wild or simple my dreams might be, she’s always there, cheering me on with so much love and belief in me. She makes me feel like I can take on the world, and she loves me in a way I never even knew was possible. She’s my greatest cheerleader, my partner, and my everything.
Rasyidah: Fadhli has this incredible ability to make you feel completely at ease—he’s the most genuine and caring person I’ve ever met. When I’m with him, it feels like the world melts away, and I know I’m exactly where I’m meant to be. I realised he was the one when “home” stopped being a place and became him. Every day, I look forward to being by his side. He’s so passionate and determined, and the way he pours his heart into everything inspires me. He makes me feel loved, safe, and cherished in a way I never knew was possible. He’s my person, my anchor, and my heart.

Fadhli, how did you go about planning the proposal?
Fadhli: It all happened on what seemed like a regular weekend. We had gone on our usual date, and I casually suggested we take some photos at Singapore’s only vintage analogue photobooths at Golden Mile Tower. It didn’t raise any suspicion because we both love collecting memories and taking photobooth pictures—it’s kind of our thing. But truthfully, I was a bundle of nerves! I’d been carrying the ring box with me the entire time, trying to act normal while planning the perfect moment. When the time came, I was shaking, but I just knew it was the right moment.
Rasyidah, did you know a proposal was coming before it happened, or were you taken completely by surprise?
Rasyidah: I was completely caught off guard! It didn’t feel unusual because photobooths are something we’ve always loved doing together—it’s just part of who we are as a couple. So, when he suddenly took out the ring and popped the big question, I was genuinely surprised, but at the same time, there was this feeling of, “Yes, this is it!” We’ve been together for eight years, and deep down, I think I always knew it was just a matter of time. Still, the way he did it made it so special and unforgettable.

Where was your wedding venue and why did you choose it as the place to wed?
We held our wedding at Sofitel Singapore City Centre. We visited a few venues during the planning process, but the moment we stepped into Sofitel, we knew it was the one. It was love at first sight—the ambiance, the elegance, everything just felt perfect. On top of that, its convenient location made it ideal for our guests. It was truly a no-brainer, and we couldn’t imagine a better place to celebrate our special day.

Did you have a wedding theme?
Our wedding theme was white with a hint of lilac—elegant and timeless. We wanted something that, even years down the line, would still look classy and beautiful when we revisited our wedding photos. Both of us absolutely love flowers, so we knew they had to play a big role in our wedding decor. Our wedding planner and decoration team completely understood our vision and turned it into something truly magical. When we walked into the ballroom for the first time, we were completely in awe. It felt like stepping into a dream—a stunning garden of flowers brought to life. It was everything we had hoped for and more. Our guests couldn’t stop raving about how breathtaking and sophisticated it all looked, and that made the day feel even more special and unforgettable for us.

How did your wedding day go?
The night before the wedding, we could hardly sleep—our minds were racing with a mix of excitement and nerves, knowing the day we had been dreaming of was finally about to happen. We couldn’t stop imagining how everything would unfold, hoping it would be just as magical as we had envisioned. Our hearts were overflowing with anticipation for what was to come. Friends and family had warned us that the bride and groom often feel too tired to enjoy their big day, but for us, it was the complete opposite. We were fueled by pure joy and adrenaline, savouring every single moment. From the laughter to the love and the overwhelming happiness, it was everything we had hoped for and more. It truly felt like a dream come true, but it passed by in the blink of an eye—like the most beautiful whirlwind we wish we could relive forever.
Share with us the most memorable moment of your wedding.
For us, the most unforgettable moment was during the solemnisation. It was such a deeply emotional and intimate experience—taklik was spoken, heartfelt words exchanged, promises sealed, and tears fell without restraint. In that moment, everything else disappeared, and it was just the two of us, standing together, starting our journey as husband and wife. It felt as though time had paused, allowing us to fully embrace the weight and beauty of what was happening. That moment, filled with so much love and meaning, will forever be etched in our hearts—it was the true beginning of our forever.

What is one lesson you’ve learned from your wedding planning that you’d like to share with other couples?
Everything will work out in the end. We spent a whole year worrying about every detail, trying to make sure everything was perfect for what felt like the most important event we’d ever plan. However, when the day finally came, it turned out to be the best day of our lives. Some things didn’t go exactly as planned, but most of it went beautifully—and none of the little hiccups mattered because I was marrying my best friend, and we had the time of our lives. If there’s one piece of advice we’d share, it’s this: do what makes you and your partner happy. It’s your wedding day, and it should reflect your vision, not anyone else’s. Your opinions, dreams, and priorities matter most because this is a day you’ll carry with you forever. Don’t let the stress take over—focus on the love you’re celebrating and trust that everything will come together just as it’s meant to.
